It was approximately 7km of fun adventure, 40+ diverse obstacles, 2 hours of non-stop laughter, and 1 day filled with nothing but muddy good times! This was the weekend summary of some of our team members at 4one4 Property Co. last 26th November after conquering the challenge of Tassie’s only outdoor obstacle course–The Rugged Race!
Tucked all around Redbanks’s verdant countryside, The Rugged Race had certainly something that would challenge everyone. From rope climbs to balance beams, frame walls, and muddy army crawls, you won’t be surprised to find mud in all areas you can think of.
When the team at 4one4 aren’t busy themselves with property-related tasks, you’ll often find them participating in some of Tassie’s best events or activities. So, being the action packed, thrill seekers, and active-oriented group, some 4one4 legends have accepted the challenge to reveal Tassie’s fittest! Aaron Murray, Sebastian Kitchener, Martin Evans, Demi Shea, Mikayla Hall, Taylese Butterworth, Georgia Webster, and some family members were proud finishers of the muddy race.
Aaron Murray, a superstar sales consultant at 4one4, rustled the troops together for this foray into muddy mayhem. He mentioned how different The Rugged Race is from the other races and fun runs the team has participated in the past. “Recently, we took part in Run the Bridge, too, which I thought was more of a solo sort of run and everyone just got their own pace. Whereas the mud run was a much more team bonding experience,” shared Aaron.
“We all stayed together, helped each other out, and we all had some fun rolling around the mud together.”
The Rugged Race had three categories: the Elite wave (male and female), the junior wave, and the social wave. Trophies and cash prizes awaited those in the Elite wave, the junior wave allowed ages 8 to 12 years old to participate, and the social wave came in every fifteen minutes which our brave team had done and dusted!
According to Aaron, the most challenging obstacle for the team was the ‘Warped Wall’ which was also one of the newest ones and the last obstacle to finish. In fact, he and Sebastian were the only ones who tried it. “Aside from the fact that we were very exhausted since it’s the last obstacle, we were also covered in mud and we had to run straight up this wall and then jump to get over it.”
The Rugged has also partnered with Tasmanian Air Tours which offered exclusive 6-minute scenic helicopter flights and functioned on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
Aaron mentioned that his favourite part of the event was being part of the team with everyone and being able to help one another. “It’s delightful to stay out and see how everyone was challenged and that we all actually got through the whole thing as a team.”
The hot showers after you crossed the finish line were also something to look forward to according to Aaron. There was also food and beverages available for purchase on-site.
Aaron mentioned how important such an activity is for a team like the 4one4 Property Co. crew. “We work with everyone every day, but it’s nice to get to know people on a deeper level and witness how they perform, what they like, and how they handle stuff in different situations.”
“It’s really lovely to be able to see people out of work just to get a feel of them as actual people rather than just knowing them as your work buddies.”
The Rugged Race has recently announced through their social pages that they are coming back for a round 2 on 25th February 2023 at the same location at 276 Masons Road Nugent in Redbanks. Early bird tickets are now on sale for those who are keen to conquer the challenging obstacles.
When asked if he and the 4one4 legends are down for the second round, Aaron is not certain if he could still convince anyone to come back with him after all the muddy yet fun experience. No promises, but let’s just cross the bridge when we get there! (*wink)
